Logical Volume Management.

Logical logical volume management which is very well known as LVM is a form of Storage Virtualization. LVM helps System Administrator to manage disk space in a more flexible way rather than the traditional partitioning.

Use of Logical Volume Management

a) It helps to encrypt multiple physical partitions with the help of one password.
b) LVM performs consistent backups by taking snapshots of the logical volumes.
c) When it comes to the small system like desktop, LVM allows filesystems to be easily resized as needed.
d) Creating single logical volumes of multiple physical volumes or entire hard disks (somewhat similar to RAID 0, but more similar to JBOD), allowing for dynamic volume resizing.
